Praveen Sekhar – Carnatic Musician & Educator

Praveen Sekhar is a highly accomplished Carnatic musician and passionate educator with over 23 years of experience. His musical journey began at the age of six under the guidance of the late Sri. S.M. Rajagopal Bhagavathar, and he later trained under the renowned Carnatic Musician:- Prof. Mavelikkara P. Subramanyam. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Carnatic Music – RLV College of Music, Thripunithura, Kerala. Master’s Degree in Carnatic Music – Kerala University (Secured 2nd Rank). Teaching & Career: Praveen began his teaching career in 2004 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan School, Kochi. In 2010, he moved to Abu Dhabi as part of the same institution before returning to Kerala as a music teacher at St. Augustine’s H.S.S, Thodupuzha. Now settled in the UK, he continues to train students in Carnatic vocal music. In 2024, he founded Raaga – Music 4 Mind, a Carnatic music school in Birmingham, dedicated to promoting and nurturing the art of classical music. Achievements & Contributions: Trained numerous students across India, the UAE, the UK, and other countries, many of whom have become professional musicians. His students have won national and regional music championships in both India and the UK. A talented choir trainer, he leads The Bees – Bhavans Band, a choir group featured on YouTube. Current Work: As the founder of Raaga – Music 4 Mind, Praveen Sekhar is committed to spreading the essence of Carnatic music to a global audience. He delivers both online and in-person classes across the UK and other countries, continuing his mission to inspire and mentor the next generation of musicians.
